WorldHost Ambassadors on Causeway Coastal Route

Carnlough Volunteers become WorldHost Ambassadors

The Mayor of Mid and East Antrim Councillor Lindsay Millar has congratulated Carnlough Heritage Hub volunteers for completing their WorldHost Ambassador Training.

As part of the new £100, 000 Industrial Heritage Hub at Carnlough Town Hall, volunteers honed their skills in welcoming tourists and visitors to The Hub and the surrounding area by completing the WorldHost Ambassador accredited customer service workshop which was delivered by local WorldHost trainer Jean Haworth from Customer Sense Training.   Volunteers explored how best to promote a warm and friendly welcome and learned more about the heritage and culture of the area.

Tourism experience of the Causeway Coastal Route

Speaking at the presentation the Mayor Councillor Lindsay Millar said  ”The Hub volunteers are an integral part of developing the tourist experience in Carnlough and along the Causeway Coastal Route.  The volunteers of the Hub have shown great commitment to attending training sessions, including this WorldHost Ambassador Training.  I am certain that the knowledge and enthusiasm from them will inspire and encourage visitors to stay longer in Carnlough and experience the wonderful local heritage and culture.”

Jean Haworth WorldHost trainer said “ I would like to congratulate all those involved in the vision behind the Heritage Hub of connecting Tourism and Heritage.  Volunteers play a vital role in welcoming visitors and I trust that their commitment to delivering world class service excellence to every visitor every time will make the Heritage Hub a truly memorable experience for all who visit.

Carnlough Industrial Heritage Hub

The display celebrates Carnlough’s harbour, its maritime connections, the area’s beautiful scenery, geology, wildlife and natural resources.  It also explores the history of settlers from the Stone Age to industrialists of the 18th and 19th Centuries.  It is hoped that the displays will boost self-guided tourism in Carnlough and encourage visitors to explore what else the Glens have to offer.
